Logitech B525 vs C525; The Twins from LogitechFransisca Yenny Clarisa
Physically, the Logitech B525 is very similar to the Logitech C525. No wonder these two cameras are like “twin brothers”. However, there’s more than meets the eye. Both of these webcams are divided into three parts, the top is the main camera, the middle is the connector of the cantilever, and the bottom is the cantilever itself. Furthermore, they also come in the same color which is black with a hint of orange. These two webcams are only slightly bigger than a smartphone so you can easily carry them with you everywhere and can also be rotated as far as 360 degrees, allowing the other person to see a wider area if desired.
Both Logitech C525 and B525 support noise reduction. Noise reduction means that the webcam’s microphone is programmed to block out unwanted noise (such as traffic, wind noise, background chatter, and so on) to improve audio quality.
Autofocus is also present on both of these webcams. However, the effective distance on the C525 is only up to 7 cm as opposed to 10 cm on the B525. Therefore, you can sit a bit further away from the camera while using the Logitech C525 without compromising the video quality. This makes the C525 perfect for those of us who want to create content on YouTube. For example, recording our facial expressions while playing games or playing videos.
So, what makes the C525 different from the B525? The main difference can be seen in the first letter code on these two webcams. Logitech C525 is for consumer use and has a warranty of only 1 year. Meanwhile, Logitech B525 is made for business purposes and has a 2-year warranty.
One of the advantages of using the Logitech B525 compared to its sibling is its larger resolution, namely Full HD 1080p, at 30 frames per second. While the Logitech C525 is only 720p HD. Nevertheless, 720p is sufficient to make video calls via Skype or other applications. The frame rate is also quite good at 30 fps.
The Logitech C525 has a megapixel of 8MP. On the other hand, the Logitech B525 comes with only a 2MP webcam. The larger number of megapixels allows the webcam can capture finer details. However, the resolution of the image is not the only factor that affects the overall image and video quality of the webcam.
Both of these webcams qualify as good webcams. The Logitech B525 costs $79, whereas the Logitech C525 is about $88. We recommend using the Logitech B525 if you need a webcam with a longer local manufacturer warranty. And the B525 can be optimally used with Microsoft Lync and Skype applications and supports most of the commonly used UC and video conferencing platforms.
